I had some extra time on my hands today so I decided to put together this special “adventures of 2010″ post. Basically, I compiled some of the couture I added to my collection this past year and juxtaposed my looks against the pieces in their element – the runway. As a way of contextualizing some of what you’re seeing, I also included the location of where the item was worn. This whole endeavour was pretty time consuming so I hope you like it.
Zac Posen
So Far So Good! :)
Today’s look-of-the-day is of what I wore last night to a show at the Factory Theatre. I loved the silhouette produced by the crinoline Zac Posen blouse when paired with a form-fitting tank. It highlights the outlines of the figure in a subtle, understated way. To finish the look, I threw the Proenza Schouler jacket on top of the blouse and mini – in keeping with the blue/white colour pallet and the vertical checks. The Cole Haan flap clutch picks up the colour of the mini while (in texture) conforming to the cubic tenor in the main garments.
Cream Delight
Today’s look-of-the-day lingers somewhere in the creamy pearl dimension. The delicacy of the softly quilted crinoline blouse by Zac Posen is given more volume and detail through the velvet trim and underlapping lace. To me, there is something baroque about this interesting piece and I wanted to play on that. The necklace and the multi-strand pearl bracelet are meant to intensify its vintage-inspired quality without being distracting. Admittedly, the long strap of the purse is reminiscent of a different era but I think it still looks harmonious with the other pieces .
