The wonderful people at Sugalips sent me this crochet black mini which I paired with bronze layered bangles and suede boots. For me, wearing a chunky cardigan over a simple, soft dress has become one of this winter’s most ‘go to’ combos. California is definitely changing the way I approach the season and brands like Sugarlips help this influence materialize itself.

electric blue
This is how I handled going out on the coldest night in San Jose. A soft cashmere turtleneck dress, a wool jacket with a scarf collar, tights, suede boots, and accent jewellery. Sitting on the patio under the heaters never felt cozier.
estranged
Remember when I made the peach skirt remix post and said that I was going to the Boldt Castle in the Thousand Islands region, well I made today’s mini-movie from some of the pictures from that visit. While walking around its grounds, I found this interesting little tower that, from the inside, was lit so beautifully that I just had to make something dramatic out of it. Of course the feeling of romance and tragedy that so strongly permeates within the atmosphere of the Boldt Castel (mostly because of its history) also helped the matter a little. The hollowness of this fairy-tail-like tower inspired feeling of estrangement that I think transferred into some of these shots quite nicely.
peach skirt remix (english tea party)
My family and I visited the Thousand Islands this past weekend and – on the way there – stopped over at my aunt and uncle’s place in Kingston. Their house is by the lake with breathtakingly-gorgeous views in every direction. Running around their park-esque backyard with their dog, Amur, felt almost dreamlike. I remixed the silk maxi skirt for the Thousand Islands boat tour and our visit to the Boldt Castle. The peachy-cream pastels, flowy fabrics, headwear, and the silhouette of this look is reminiscent of the English tea party scene. And considering that, when I was little, I wanted to be the Queen of England for a living, I loved wearing this ladylike ensemble.
peach skirt remix (boho chic)
I hope everyone had a relaxing and safe Fourth of July weekend! Today’s and tomorrow’s posts will be of me styling this peach maxi skirt two different ways. Similarly to the strawberry picking dress, this skirt was one of those long-forgotten and neglected pieces in my wardrobe that I came really close to disposing of on numerous occasions. The main reason for this “hostility” had to do with my uncertainty around how to to make it work and where I should “work it.” The following two remix posts are my way of finally settling these questions and giving this unique piece a place in the world.
