I’m back in school now (among palm trees), learning about the parol evidence rule and indemnification actions – titillating stuff
. These shots were taken in my parent’s backyard during the sweet days of my break. I packed very little with me on my trip home, so I had to put this look together out of some random items found around the house. I call this my “Strictly Bloggy Look.”

snow globes
The day after I got back from Vegas, I had just enough time to repack my suitcases to catch a flight to Toronto. I found Toronto exactly as I had expected – completely covered in snow, in a state of a beautiful, urban, winter wonderland. Actually, pretty much everything else about my trip home was free of surprises. It was just as relaxing and pleasant as I had hoped. It was so nice waking up to the smell of my mom baking and my dad making coffee. There are so many little things I miss being in California without them.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Today’s look-of-the-day is of the outfit I wore to the school open-house and reception. It was sunny and beautiful that day but still a little chilly, so I paired my cream Robert Rodriguez dress with a large pocket spring coat and a pastel blue cashmere cardigan. The schedule of the open-house was pretty intensive but mom and I were still able to find 15 minutes for a Starbucks and mini photo shoot break.
The Old, the New, and the Vintage
When I was in high school – before I became completely enthralled with fashion – I wondered about the meaning of the term “vintage clothes.” It seemed to me as thought people were just slapping this term on “old, worn clothes” in order to glamourize and mystify them; to give it a sense of history that is beyond us, thus reshaping our perception of these aged, used pieces. I felt that their apparent merit was mainly a product of marketing and thought of it as just another gimmick. Because the word “vintage” was associated with wine, the value of which increases as it ages, the word was conveniently adapted in the description of certain clothes.
Scarfs
I hope you’re all having an awesome post-Christmas time – relaxed, well fed, and ready for the real party (New Years that is). I’m still at the lodge, enjoying the laid-back atmosphere, with its biggest dilemmas being whether to (a) watch another movie, (b) read a book, (c) take another nap, (d) just hang out and do nothing, (e) or sauna. We usually just resort to (d) with a bit of (a) sprinkled in
.
