I know that I’ve been short on words in the past few posts and it’s just a reflection of how I’ve been feeling lately. I don’t want to force what just isn’t there. I haven’t felt very inspired to write so I choose not to. It’s like I hit something of a creative dry spell and I haven’t done anything interesting lately to get myself out of it (i.e. theatre, opera, art show)….nada. I’ll have to figure something out but until then the pictures alone will have to suffice.

Something happened yesterday that made me pretty surprised and a little grossed out. I was having just another workout at the Extreme Fitness (Wellington location), followed by a 15 minute dry-sauna session. After changing out of my dirty gym clothes I left them in the locker while bringing my i-Phone and book inside the sauna with me. When walking back to the locker I noticed that it was half opened and inside it my gym bag was opened too, which I habitually zip-up before leaving. And guess what happened… Someone actually took my gym clothes – completely drenched in sweat and scrunched in a ball. It was a pair of lululemon yoga pants, that I have coincidently included in the look-of-the-day post for Nov. 18’09, and a white Adidas top with light green lines. Anyways, the description of the stolen items is inconsequential. My biggest question is: who would do that and why? I mean…gym clothes?…really? I’m not even going so far as to attempt to reconcile the moral dilemma of “theft as a criminal act” in general and I am in no way passing judgement on those who steal out of hunger or desperation. But ironically the Wellington location is considered one of the more upscale and exclusive out of the Extreme Fitness clubs. Go figure!

Anyways, I guess the moral of the story is not to underestimate how little respect some people have for themselves and to use a lock at all times (paranoia style ). If you guys have any thoughts on this I would be more than delighted if you would share them by leaving a comment.

Today my family and I will be driving for about 3 hours to spend our Christmas in the country. I love a change of scenery even if it means leaving the city. I can’t wait to chill out by the fire at the lodge; it will be so country-fabulous. There is more snow, greenery, and fresh air, which should be refreshing considering that I’ve spend the last couple of days couped up in my condo like a prisoner (this might me a little melodramatic but I think I made my point ). Anyway, I’m finally stepping out into the world, albeit with slight apprehension and pockets full of kleenex.

For a change, this look-of-the-day is actually of my outfit for today. I didn’t want to put you guys through yet another vacation look this week so I pieced together this little in-season combo. By mixing different fabrics and textures I added dimension and funk to these relatively simple garments. The thickness and heaviness of tweet is balanced by the silk scarf. The plastic necklace subdues some of the scarf’s body while its white pieces help incorporate the plain t-shirt into the mix. The denim and cotton give the look a casual tone by de-statemenizing its overall impression.

Last night I finally got a chance to see that show, “The Madonna Painter, ” at the Factory Theatre. It’s been hours since I saw it, and am still in a state of astonishment and awe. To put it simply, it was incredible! It’s probably one of the best theatre performances I’ve ever seen and is definitely the best play I’ve ever seen at the Factory Theatre. The cast was strong, the set designers did an amazing job (I didn’t realize that the Factory stage could ever look this good), the play itself – written by Michel Marc Bouchard and translated by Linda Gaboriau – was phenomenal, and it had this musical, “operetta-esque” element to it that was right up my alley. To top it all off, just as I was beginning to catch my breath at the end of the play, we discovered that there was going to be a talk-back with the cast and the lighting director, hosted by Ken Gass. He is the Artistic Director of the Factory Theatre and was my first-year instructor at the theatre program of University of Toronto. He has always been my favorite instructor at the program so seeing him unexpectedly was a real treat.

If you live in the Toronto area, I would strongly recommend seeing this show; and I’m pretty picky when it comes to my theatre.

Today I’ll be doing some more application stuff, going to yogalates, and then my friend and I will be trying out a new fitness class in the evening (kama-aerobics), which supposedly “focuses on the female pleasure center” or something…we’ll see .

This is what I was wearing yesterday.

A skirt by “Pinko” (2-piece skirt;1st piece is slightly sheer, multi-layered, and tutu-style, 2nd piece is wool)

Tights by “Holt Renfrew”

Shoes by “Pierre Hardy” (super comfortable)
