Admittedly, the colour combination of white, red, and black is one of the safest of them all, but we still love it for its vibrancy and contrast. According to Kate Smith, “a recognized authority on colour,” black is associated with the primordial void and emptiness, red is recognized as a stimulant, while white projects purity, cleanliness, and neutrality. Talk about complicated…

I went shopping today! The significance of this rests in the simple fact that in Canada it’s boxing-day – the one day in the year that is supposedly notorious for crazy sales and discounts (an equivalent to Black Friday in the States). I was extremely hesitant in undertaking this insane endeavour but curiosity “go the best of me.” See…I wrote boxing-day off ages ago because it’s just a painful experience. The crowds, never-ending lines, impossible-to-find parking, and the general nuisance of the whole thing makes it feel more like work than pleasure. Nevertheless, despite my better judgement I wanted to check out a few stores. In retrospect, I have to tell you that today I got that full boxing-day experience with all the joys I describe above. This story has no “shattered expectations” twist. I knew what I was getting myself into. But on the bright side, I am a few designer clutches riches

Today my family and I will be driving for about 3 hours to spend our Christmas in the country. I love a change of scenery even if it means leaving the city. I can’t wait to chill out by the fire at the lodge; it will be so country-fabulous. There is more snow, greenery, and fresh air, which should be refreshing considering that I’ve spend the last couple of days couped up in my condo like a prisoner (this might me a little melodramatic but I think I made my point
). Anyway, I’m finally stepping out into the world, albeit with slight apprehension and pockets full of kleenex.
Something of an Invasion
Today’s look-of-the-day post is rather special. A week before starting this blog I was making my routine walk to the University of Toronto library when a man with a camera approached me. He asked to take my picture for his website that features people with unique, interesting styles. Initially, I was a little taken aback by the request but he seemed pleasant and professional so I agreed. I wanted to start my own fashion blog for a long time and I feel that this experience gave me the extra push – it was encouraging and even empowering. I think that it is amazing when someone’s creativity fuels and inspires others in this way. My encounter with Theo R., the founded and creator of www.styleinvasion.com, indirectly motivated me and I hope that my blog will inspire others. Lets continue this chain of creativity…
