I received a comment on yesterday’s post that, despite its good intentions, made me a little disconcerted and concerned. In the post I mentioned that I did some modelling the day before and the reader had some assumptions/questions that I wanted to address. The first had to do with my occupation and the idea that I must be a professional model. And the second assumption was that this must be the source of my designer clothes. If this is a common belief, I’m afraid that I might have mislead some of my dear readers or somehow mystified who I am. I want this post to dispel any such mystery or confusion.

Hush
I checked out a new play at the Tarragon Theatre on friday night called Hush. It seemed to possess a bit of surrealist and even Freudian thematic undercurrents as it explored the threshold between dreams and reality. This play was the first Tarragon show for my mom and I really wanted her to like it. Ironically enough, at the end of the play, she was the only one fully satisfied with the experience – go figure (nothing can ever bore this woman). Well…overall the play really was good – the cast was strong and the plot kept you wondering the entire time; trying to decipher the possible meaning of the dreams in the context of the characters’ lives. If psychological enigmas are your ‘cup of tea’ you will loveĀ Hush, but if not there is always Communion (which I’m planning on checking out next Friday).
Cream Delight
Today’s look-of-the-day lingers somewhere in the creamy pearl dimension. The delicacy of the softly quilted crinoline blouse by Zac Posen is given more volume and detail through the velvet trim and underlapping lace. To me, there is something baroque about this interesting piece and I wanted to play on that. The necklace and the multi-strand pearl bracelet are meant to intensify its vintage-inspired quality without being distracting. Admittedly, the long strap of the purse is reminiscent of a different era but I think it still looks harmonious with the other pieces .
Pearly Cream
I just came back from having brunch, and let me tell you, the weather in Toronto is unbelievable right now. It’s super slushy and dark. We were planning on walking there but upon hearing the concierge in our building ask us “Do you guys like slushies?” and seeing just exactly what he meant after stepping outside for a second, we quickly turned around and proceeded to walk towards the car. If you are planning on walking further than a few meters in this weather, a full rain get-up (see rain-clothes video) would serve you well on this weather monstrosity of a day. Despite the apparent grayness, I decided to play around with creamy tones today; accentuated by tons of pearl. Notice how Jeremy Laing’s skirt looks on the runway compared with the look-of-the-day version without his jacket. While it might be fun sometimes, in wearing designer clothes you obviously don’t need to replicate the exact vision of its creator. It’s like I always say, “If its on you, its right!”
