I’m back in California!!! This summer has definitely been memorable – celebrated the completion of the first year of law school in Vegas, visited family and friend in Toronto, took a class on Japanese business law in Tokyo, clerked at a law firm in Seoul, Korea, and spent my birthday vacationing in Thailand. A serious case of jet lag and a few scary credit card bills will never change the fact that this has been the most incredibly epic summer ever!

For the past two weeks of school I’ve been consumed by a few dominating emotions – excitement and anxiety. From what I could see, I was far from the only first-year-law-student stuck in this exhausting state. In the fear of completely digressing from the subject of the blog, I will just say that the first weeks of law school are an experience in themselves. As you can imagine, my daily looks in the course of those weeks naturally reflected a lot of how I felt; they were rushed and simpler than usual. Well I must have had some unconscious accumulation of creativity throughout as well because, today after class, mom and I just looked at each other and new that “it’s time!” We got into the car and drove to Santa Cruz for this mini-shoot.
a day of Italian Vogue
Today’s post is a product of just that – a day of looking through Italian Vogue magazines my parents brought back from their last trip to Europe. I’ve been meaning to put this extravagant monstrosity of a dress to use ever since my impulsive purchase a few years ago. Well I guess that the purchase wasn’t entirely impulsive considering that I was quite aware of the dress’s impracticality and flamboyance. I knew that it was bound to be one of those eternally-neglected-items in my closet, but to me it was still interesting and unique enough to outweigh the gloom of the inevitable. I did use it for this shoot after all, and when I look at today’s pictures I begin to fall in love with it all over again. It’s my kind of monstrosity

Miu Miu meets Mawi
I was taking care of “businazz” all day today; I went through all of my graduate school information forms and booklets and created a schedule for the school open-house visits this spring. I actually can’t wait. I love how in order to get into these competitive schools you need to go though a long, tedious process of applying but once you get it it’s time for the schools to impress you. Once they grant you admission the tables turn and it’s time for you to decide where you will ultimately go. My life seems to have entered a “planning and decision making” phase. One last step before I commit.
Green Panther
When going out last night I felt like wearing something coquettish and feminine, so I wore a silk top with a high-waisted bubble skirt. But when putting the look together, it felt like the two pieces alone weren’t enough. I wanted to give it an edge and that wow-factor; I basically needed a statement piece to complete it. I chose the Mawi necklace for this task for a number of reasons: (a) its shape is complementary to the neckline of the top, (b) the colour pallete of the two pieces are in harmony, and (c) the necklace is so gorgeous that its impossible to resist.
