I went through this phase about a year ago when I was really into Alice + Olivia. Their itty-bitty dresses range from sexy, sequined, and body-con to girly satin numbers with sweetheart necklines and peplum waists. Their designer Stacey Bendet’s says that “These clothes are fun…they’re like candy” and that’s exactly how it feels to wear my Alice+Olivia heart dress; like I just had a sugar rush. Too much Alice+Olivia and you might get a cavity.

funhouse mirrors

I spent the entire day running errands yesterday and this is the casual little outfit I did it in. I’ll be flying out around 4 and there is still more packing to be done. get your feet wet

This post is in two parts and will be laid out similarly to Full Moon Shenanigans. On our second last day in LA, we continued to enjoy some of the best things it has to offer – its fresh seafood and lively beaches. Our good friend, Dima, flew in from Toronto to meet us here so while the boys played volleyball I immersed myself in my usual beach activities of reading and napping. In the spirit of enjoying the full experience, I would periodically walk up to the ocean in contemplation of possibly jumping in, but somehow my ambitious intentions were always reduced to just getting my feet wet and shamefully walking back to my blanket with my head down and a “maybe-next-time” look on my face. A few more such cycles of reading, napping, and ‘feet-wetting’ and it was time to drive back to the hotel.

Stella McCartney revisited

I’m still lusting after colour…and then some more colour. Lately I’ve been craving unusual combinations so when it was time to style my fuchsia Stella McCartney dress, I instinctively reached for more untraditional tones. A few years ago, I probably wouldn’t have even considered accessorizing this dress with such crazy-large, blue bangles but to me colour limitations are now just that – limitations.

On to Philadelphia

So, I went on yet another road trip this weekend. Our trip to Philadelphia and New York was so action filled that I didn’t get a chance to make any posts while I was away…but I did take pictures! The visit was intended for both work (another grad school open-house) and pleasure, while it primarily felt like the latter. I had never been to Philadelphia before and the biggest associations I made with the city lingered somewhere in the realm of Philly cheesesteak and ”The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” After this weekend, admitting this has become a little embarrassing because Philly is actually a pretty amazing, beautiful, fun city. Everyone at the school was recommending restaurants in the Rittenhouse Square area so that’s where we spent most of our time after the open-house events. I loved the vibe of its nightlife and the food was fantastic. From an aesthetic perspective, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing how well the patrons (especially the girls) of the restaurants were dressed. It was such a treat!
