Marry Christmas dear fashionistas. Hope you’re all having awesome holidays. I wore this comfy H&M dress to a hookah lounge a few days ago, which was perfect considering its loose fit and ‘inexpensiveness.’ I could bum around in it without worrying about pulls or snags in the fabric. It’s kind of strange, but on a subconscious level, I think it’s only natural for polyester to get abused – that’s how fond I am of the fabric
. Anyway, do it up my darlings – life is too short to be understated!

I’m finally done with my last exam and the notoriously torturous first semester of law school is officially behind me. I think I might still be in a state of slight shock after this whole ordeal. Being able to just relax feels foreign and almost uncomfortable. I had all of these grandiose daydreams about how satisfying and chill my “post-exam” day would be – filled with naps, magazine reading, youtube-comedy-watching, or whatever other unproductive activity I could think of. But do you want to know what actually ended up happening? After walking into my apartment – slightly lightheaded from the 3 1/2 hour criminal law exam that was unlike anything we expected – and assessing all of the beautiful possibilities for laziness, I did the unthinkable. I started doing laundry and organizing my closet and I didn’t stop until it was all done. I wonder how long it will take until I can truly snap out of it and allow myself the luxury of just doing…nothing. Guilt-free nothing!
draping
I’m really loving draping silhouettes this fall and I think I might even have my predominant look of the season figured out. It’s going to be all about the juxtaposition of light versus heavy and thick versus thin. Silk dresses with tights and heavy boots, layered with a suede or fur vest. Umm, can’t wait for my vision to materialize. Maybe next week…
chocolate mousse
I was actually planning a Tibi look today, which would have been in line with the recent pattern of putting the featured designers into action. But unfortunately, there will have to be a temporary break with tradition because the weather is really noncompliant today. The Tibi dress I was originally planning to wear is from their Jungle Collection and unless I was going with a tropical-hurricane-season theme, right now these is absolutely no correlation between the tropics and the Torontonian vibe. So I’m making this ‘chocolate mousse’ post pretty much by default. It’s like Homer Simpson said, “The best two words in the English language – DE FAULT!!!”
lift
I was really in the mood for silks and satins today even though the weather refuses to comply. I bought this skirt over a year ago and it just hung in my closet until today. The main reason for this uselessness was that I had little desire to wear it in its original state. It used to be knee-length actually (here is a picture of a skirt just like it in a different colour). My mom likes to busy herself with sewing or knitting when we watch movies at home together, so a few days ago I gave her another project to work on
. I had the idea of folding the bottom of the skirt inward and sewing it onto the horizontal middle seam and the skirt was turned into a mini in the course of one movie. The entire skirt was double layered to begin with so after the adjustment the bottom part became quadruple-layered, giving it something of a tutu-style silhouette. The final result was a little different than I had imagined – more coquettish and girly – but at least I’ll get some use out of it now.
