There are certain things that make the game of dress-up only that much more fun. For example, accessories do the trick for me and it’s the one thing that I can’t seem to resist when it comes to shopping. I know that shoes are the drug of choice for many fashionistas and that’s completely understandable, but mine happens to be jewellery, clutches, headbands, hats. Today’s look demonstrates a little of what I mean.

Miu Miu in action
I was going to wait until tomorrow to make this post but I have so many fun looks lined up that I couldn’t resits moving things along. With this outfit, I wanted to put that “scandalously short silhouette” I talk about in the last post into action. I bought this long Miu Miu top (or short dress, depending how you look at it) on ebay a few years back, and it wasn’t until I began compiling pictures for the Miu Miu inspiration post that it occurred to me that if Miuccia Prada wanted ‘short’ than ‘short’ it shall be. I decided to preserve the clean lines of the garment, without any distraction that a belt or jewelery piece would impose. I wanted to highlight the exquisite tailoring of this Miu Miu piece, so layering for me was also out of the question. Once I had a rough image in my head of what I envisioned for this look, the challenge was its materialization without giving over to practical compromise.
Who has Time for Walking…
To me this spring is about exuberant colour. The kind of vibrant tones that aesthetically burst and emotionally provoke. Here I mixed electric fuchsia with royal blue, and balanced this combination by adding polar white. I kept my look within this trio-colour-scheme and let the city fill in the rest. Its amazing how much vibrancy and creativity you can find even in the most unlikely corners of the city.
Cozy in Blue
Since it’s Thursday today I’m going to have to keep this look-of-the-day post short, because, as some of you may know, I have a banya to go to. For this look I paired a cashmere sweater dress with a cropped tuxedo jacket and a long necklace. When the climate permits, I could also wear this tuxedo jacket with a simple tee and a mini or over a silk dress (as Sienna Miller has done in the last picture).
Something of an Invasion
Today’s look-of-the-day post is rather special. A week before starting this blog I was making my routine walk to the University of Toronto library when a man with a camera approached me. He asked to take my picture for his website that features people with unique, interesting styles. Initially, I was a little taken aback by the request but he seemed pleasant and professional so I agreed. I wanted to start my own fashion blog for a long time and I feel that this experience gave me the extra push – it was encouraging and even empowering. I think that it is amazing when someone’s creativity fuels and inspires others in this way. My encounter with Theo R., the founded and creator of www.styleinvasion.com, indirectly motivated me and I hope that my blog will inspire others. Lets continue this chain of creativity…
