We’re at that point in our three week program when everyone seems to be needing time to slow down and relax. We’ve been going a little hard on Japan - staying out at every opportunity and indulging in whatever a student’s budget will allow. But thankfully today Tokyo decided to stop raining long enough for us to enjoy a quiet day in the park. I recently discovered that when you walk into subway stations here, soothing sound effects of birds chirping start playing – so as to relax the passengers while they wait for the trains. How sweet is that? Well if that’s what the subway stations have to offer, you can imagine what the parks are like. These pictures were taken at a shopping district on the way to the park.

stepping out
The weekend was so action filled that I couldn’t fit it in one post. I needed a break from the books so I rode my bike to the train, train to Berkeley, and then the bike to the sail boat. The weekend involved lots of pedaling…in my tiny shorts and on my gigantic bike.
cashmere wings
If I were stranded on an island and could only bring two things I would probably first cry, because that arrangement sounds a little unfortunate, and then I would bring the cashmere blanket (aunt Laura knitted me) and this cashmere scarf. Cashmere really is the fabric that loves you back. Umm, sometimes my quiet apartment feels like a desert island, minus all the perks like the crazy monkeys and the free bananas.
la raza banquet
I really should be working on my memo right now so I’ll keep this brief. The La Raza banquet was great but the decision to keep the party going at a club is responsible for the horrible migraine I’m experiencing right now. Some guy at the club told me that I look like I just won an oscar…funny
. Ok, memo time.
and the boat drifts
My family is visiting me in California for March break which has so far translated into engaging in two main activities – chilling on a sailboat in Berkeley with my dad and brother or in San Francisco museums with my mom. Each comes with its own set of outfit inspirations and I just let the activity inform the choices. This is my “marina” look. The cargo pockets and the loose silhouette of the Birger by Mikkelsen dress made it my first pick for a day on the boat. I could put one of those boat thingy magigies in my pockets
.
