I picked up this simple little dress at a vintage shop in San Francisco and it has become one of my library favourites. Conveniently enough, its fabric never seems to wrinkle and its loose fit makes it comfortable to sit in for hours. As the deafening silence of the library room and the double vision from excessive reading begin to shut down my senses, I can look down at the pattern of the dress and it completely finishes the job…leads to official loss of sanity

in time for spring
in anticipation
One midterm down, one to go, and then it’s sweet spring break for Lida. I was hoping to be able to go on a little vacation to Hawaii but my Japan and Korea plans for this summer are putting some serious strain on my spending capacity. I am so excited about going to Asia that I can barely contain myself. Exploring, growing, exploring some more…and lots and lots of kimchi.
snow globes
The day after I got back from Vegas, I had just enough time to repack my suitcases to catch a flight to Toronto. I found Toronto exactly as I had expected – completely covered in snow, in a state of a beautiful, urban, winter wonderland. Actually, pretty much everything else about my trip home was free of surprises. It was just as relaxing and pleasant as I had hoped. It was so nice waking up to the smell of my mom baking and my dad making coffee. There are so many little things I miss being in California without them.
checkmate
Today’s ensemble was one of my resort day looks in Cuba. I wanted to pair the 40s inspired high-waisted shorts with something equally as reminiscent of that era, so I picked out this bikini top – with full coverage of the bust and wide halter-style straps. In the 40s and 50s, the height of the bottoms customarily ran above the navel, so these shorts seemed like an appropriate march in this regard as well. Paradoxically, my choice of accessories were intended to minimize that retro feel because I’m usually careful not to make the look too dated and, in this case, the accessories seem like a natural way of avoiding this.
estranged
Remember when I made the peach skirt remix post and said that I was going to the Boldt Castle in the Thousand Islands region, well I made today’s mini-movie from some of the pictures from that visit. While walking around its grounds, I found this interesting little tower that, from the inside, was lit so beautifully that I just had to make something dramatic out of it. Of course the feeling of romance and tragedy that so strongly permeates within the atmosphere of the Boldt Castel (mostly because of its history) also helped the matter a little. The hollowness of this fairy-tail-like tower inspired feeling of estrangement that I think transferred into some of these shots quite nicely.
