If leisure is a state of mind, I’m as far away from that state as ever. But it doesn’t stop me from reminiscing on my Cuba vacation – those long hours spent on the sunny beach with a light book in my hand. My days are still sunny but the books have gotten a lot heavier and my looks more conservative. Sometimes my mind drifts from actus reus and mens rea to that Cuban state of lightness.

jungle beat
I just got off a plane in New York and will be driving to Toronto overnight. Isn’t WiFi the best thing since sliced bread? This silk Tibi dress, from their Jungle Collection, is what I wore on my last day in LA. Oh how I’m going to miss all the shrimp tacos.
beach bum
We began our second day in LA with the breakfast of champions – spicy fajitas and beer. The rest of the day consisted of bumming around the Manhattan beach and then getting to now the Sunset Blvd. I wanted to feel relaxed and comfortable so I layered one lemon coloured loose top over another and finished the look off with my linen shorts and nude platforms – easy, breezy.
my summer ride
I submitted this picture for the Moxsie Sweet Summer Style contest on chictopia. The whole premise behind the contest was to show what your favourite Summer stapes are and how you keep cool in the heat. When I first read what was required I immediately knew that I could contribute because I’m something of a “heat junkie.” The temperature outside can rarely be too high for me and I crave the hottest of the summer days. I’m not sure if this has anything to do with the matter, but part of the explanation could be the fact that I’m a fire sign (Leo). But zodiac aside, when I was asked to describe how I stay stylish through the summer this is what I wrote:
grecian tale
I’ve been really into boho maxis lately but today’s Tibi dress is definitely one of my favorites. I love its grecian-inspired elements (particularly the neckline) and the loose, relaxed silhouette. Wearing this dress today made me feel like a greek mythology characters. It’s so long and flowy that it looks more like you’re gliding through air then walking. How very ethereal… It’s amazing how a single dress can effect your mood and the way you feel.
