In the last few post I briefly mentioned what my school looks are like but I haven’t shown you any examples so here is my first school-look-post. A light dress, cozy cardigan, and a statement piece is my go to combination when I’m rushing out the door for the 9 o’clock torts or contracts class. Nothing like cashmere to make you feel like you are still in bed .

*There are only two days left to enter the Tibi dress giveaway. I’ve noticed that some eager beavers entered their name more then once but, in the interest of keeping things fair, only the the first entry will count. Good luck lovelies!

What I’m wearing:

For my Russian Readers:

Это мой первый в этом учебном году образ, лук, наряд (всё звучит, как-то не по русски и двухсмысленно – ПОМОГИТЕ!!!) состоит из легкого платья, кашимирового кардигана и бижутерии, как акцента. Просто, лаконично и удобно. А ранним прохладным утром только кашимир способен вернуть мне уют и тепло покинутой постели.

The team of We Love Colors sent me this cute summer dress to style for my dear readers. While I kept this look in the navy and white colour scheme, the possibilities for styling such a dress are endless; especially considering that – as the name implies – We Love Colors offers an amazing variety of colour choices for every items they carry. How fun!

I found this zebra dress to be super comfortable and stretchy but also quite see-though actually, so I think it would be most practically worn over a bikini, leggings, or with a long jacket such as mine.

What I’m wearing:

Jacket by “Proenza Schouler” (last seen in Jan. 19’10)

Zebra mini dress c/o “We Love Colors”

Nude heels by “Elie Tahari” (last seen in June 17’10)

Sunglasses by “MARNI” (last seen in Mar. 30’10)

Bag by “Calvin Klein”

Necklace by “Clotilde Silva” (last seen in Jan. 20’10)

Silver multi-strand bracelet (last seen in Jun. 19’10)

Today’s look-of-the-day is of what I wore last night to a show at the Factory Theatre. I loved the silhouette produced by the crinoline Zac Posen blouse when paired with a form-fitting tank. It highlights the outlines of the figure in a subtle, understated way. To finish the look, I threw the Proenza Schouler jacket on top of the blouse and mini – in keeping with the blue/white colour pallet and the vertical checks. The Cole Haan flap clutch picks up the colour of the mini while (in texture) conforming to the cubic tenor in the main garments.

On a slightly unrelated note, I really wanted to show you guys this video. The 5-year-old, Savannah is a true fashionista at heart; she takes care of those around her but stays image-conscious under the most dire of circumstances. I love the part where she says, “I don’t know what I’m going to wear”…lol, what a cuttie .

As part of this road-trip, the second school to visit on our agenda was located in State College, Pennsylvania. The town is economically and demographically dominated by the presence of the main campus of the Penn State University. The disproportionate presence of young people manifestly dictates its general atmosphere in every regard. As I was looking out the window on our drive through the town it felt almost surreal. It’s like I was in some twilight zone run by jocks and girls in booty shorts (the weather was beautiful). While I’m sure the experience of living there is enjoyable in its own way, I personally couldn’t imagine it for myself. The more exposed I am to the lifestyles of different people the more convinced I become of my inherently metropolitan nature…at least for now.

This is what I wore to the open-house in Pennsylvania. I new that it was going to be warm on Saturday so I layered my Chanel-style blazer over a light silk dress.

I was working on set last night so I didn’t get to make a St. Patrick’s Day post. Aside from a themed lunch there wasn’t much of a celebration on set. However, nothing is going to stop me from joining in the fun of this fabulous Irish festivity largely consisting of wearing green and drinking beer…how enticing! So my dear fashionistas, throw on your favorite green dress and please enjoy responsibly .

Yesterday I went to my first graduate school reception and I wore my new Nina Ricci dress for the occasion. My mom came along to show her support and keep me company, which obviously made the experience a lot more enjoyable for me. What I found to be quite impressive about the experience was how attentive all of the school representatives were to their guests. Of course, the reception was intended to convince the potential students to accept the school’s offers so this attention had a definite motive, but the Dean himself didn’t have to go out of his way and spend 20 minutes talking to my mom and I about why the school would be a great choice for me.

But the story doesn’t end there…

When getting ready for the reception, I was contemplating whether to bring a clutch or just bring the bare essentials and put them into my coat pockets. In the interest of keeping it simple and not wanting to waste time on picking the perfect clutch, I went with the latter option. I put my ID, credit card, lip-gloss, and prescription glasses in my coat pockets and was out the door. We took a cab back home and, as it turned out, my prescription glasses fell out of the pocket in the cab as I was taking out my credit card to pay. I rarely loose anything, so this was a bit of a shocker. Ironically enough, out of the things I own (which some would argue are in excess ), my prescription glasses are probably the one think I actually need. It was not until about 4 am – when I was woken up by some internal force – that I new where how I lost them. It felt like some subconscious epiphany (if there is such a thing) was pulling me out of my sleep. I called the cab company in the morning, with the cab number and other details (from the credit card receipt he gave me), and by the next day the driver called me and dropped them off. Ummm, don’t you just love happy ending?

I guess the moral of the story is to carry a clutch or bring your purse. Pockets are less reliable than they seem . Also, don’t let a seemingly unfavorable probability of finding something prevent you from putting effort into the search. Life has an amazing way of defying concepts like “probability.”

On Saturday a bunch of us went to a grand opening party for a new store on Bloor St. West called HAUS. It’s “the only concept store where local and international designers and artists alike showcase their pieces through the vision of HAUS.” At the party I had the pleasure of meeting its two charming owners William and Rachel. Rachel told me about the vision behind this cute little shop – most of their clothes being recycled from vintage pieces, and their desire to support local talent. In doing so, HAUS fosters a creative, fashion-conscious community that extends beyond mere consumerism.

When I was invited to this party I didn’t really know what to expect in terms of the style of their clothes but, once we got there, I was happy to discover many interesting, fun pieces that I would love to add to my collection. I tried a few garments on but there was so much commotion from the party that I decided to leave the shopping for another day…and I will be back! I think HAUS will quickly become one of Toronto’s fashion hot-spots. Check it out; it’s on 1265 Bloor St. West. I doubt that you’ll be leaving empty handed.

Today’s look-of-the-day carries a musical theme, with an almost romantic air to it. After the Russian sauna, I went to a house party last night. It was being hosted by my brother, Taras and one of his friends – a professional cello player, Min. Wine, cheese, hookah, and heated debates on the topic of ‘free will vs. determinism’ made the party engaging and relaxing at the same time. The apple-pie and mojitos were also a nice touch. Good job guys…’Great Success’!!!

Aesthetically speaking, I thoroughly enjoyed my choice of wardrobe for the night. I was originally planning to wear my Temperley London dress that I haven’t shown you yet. But I am so glad that I didn’t because I would have felt too uncomfortable sitting on the floor in it. This flowy twenty8twelve silk dress made me feel feminine, pretty, and comfortable at the same time.
