All of your sweet birthday wishes sent out so much positive energy into the universe that my b-day turned out amazingly, despite the intense moving preparations and general craziness of my last day in Toronto. The day started with a birthday brunch at a creperia, followed by unavoidable hours of packing and case reading, and ended with dinner and drinks on McCaul St. I love starting new, often challenging to follow traditions like celebrating each one of my birthdays in a new country and in a new dress. I broke with tradition this year with the whole country thing, but my dress was brand-spanking new and shiny, so it sort of counts.

After about an hour in this outfit I had two realizations that made me pause and go, “ha.” Firstly, this was the very first time of the summer when I wore pants and secondly, the two main pieces of the outfit are by Theory. So you could say that I was in pants…in theory

relaxed maxi
This asymmetrical, edgy cotton maxi is my go-to dress when I’m too busy or lazy to put an outfit together. I just throw this oversized baby on and I’m ready for the movies or whatever other relaxed activity I’m getting myself involved in. I’ve definitely put this dress to use in the past and I think it will serve me well when I go back to school but, as much as I appreciate its uniqueness, I never really felt that it was one of my own. All the deliberate little wholes in the fabric leave me feeling kind of sloppy. I catch myself finding one and thinking “What is this, I have to get it fixed” followed by a silly realization of “Oh yeah, that’s part of the design.”

The Revolve shoot was an interesting but insanely tiring experience. The idea was to have the four chosen bloggers style and model five outfits each for the Revolve summer guide. As soon as the guide is launched on their site I’ll post the pictures here and tell you the stories behind each look.
40s shorts on rodeo
The weather was beautiful in LA yesterday, so we spent most of the day outside; first lunch and sightseeing on Rodeo Dr. and later the Hermosa beach. I wore these 40s inspired, high-waisted shorts over a fitted tank top, and finished the look with a few vintage inspired accessories. There is something very “pin-up girlish” about this and it felt almost like I was playing a new character for the day.
