We spent most of the day in Palo Alto, CA and these pictures were taken on the campus of Stanford University. The weather was just how I like it – hot with a slightly cool breeze, which made the soft ruffles of this layered petal dress gently dance in the wind (very picture friendly conditions:)). The interesting thing about this dress is that it’s by Chelsea Flower but it looks suspiciously similar to a dress from one of Stella McCartney’s collections. The few pictures that I’ve included at the end are of Stella’s dresses. Is it just me or does it seem likeĀ Chelsea Flower was inspired to the point of ‘replication’?

Checkered Stella
I know…it’s been a while. Did you miss me? The truth is that I’ve been having a pretty tough couple of days – some personal stuff. Fashion and pretty things have been the last thing on my mind. Well, I’m officially getting back to my daily posts. I’ve always been big on consistency so I’ll try to keep up despite the ‘obstacles.’
Navy & White
I have a little confession to make. I have always been into sailor-influaenced pieces; white and navy stripped tees, sailboat and anchor pendants, necklaces with large links reminiscent of anchor chains. Without even trying, sailors happen to be a pretty stylish bunch – an inspiration to fashionistas all over the world. Personally I’ve been trying to find a few simple stripped tops for a long while and yesterday I finally did. I rarely walk into H&M but I’ve recently discovered that they have great essential pieces like simple tank and tees. Yesterday I was pleasantly surprised when I noticed that they have awesome navy & white striped cotton tops – simple and soft (exactly what I was looking for). And they are cheap too, ranging from $10 to $15 bucks. I don’t think I’m ready to purchase items like dresses and pants from H&M because I love well-tailored, quality clothes, but I will stay more open-minded about their simple essentials like the top I’m wearing today.
Happy New Year Fashionistas!!!
That’s it. Its officially 2010. I don’t know about you guys, but not too long ago I remember celebrating the big millennium. Was that really 10 years ago? It certainly doesn’t feel like it. All the end-of-the-world theories fell through I guess and not only did we make it past the big 2000 but we’ve moved on to the next decade. I feel an overpowering urge to throw out a cliche at you, “It’s crazy how time flies.” In tune with these thoughts I’m going to leave you with this: life is too short to spend it in pajama pants. Fashionistas, go forth and multiply!:)
Denim and Tweed
Today my family and I will be driving for about 3 hours to spend our Christmas in the country. I love a change of scenery even if it means leaving the city. I can’t wait to chill out by the fire at the lodge; it will be so country-fabulous. There is more snow, greenery, and fresh air, which should be refreshing considering that I’ve spend the last couple of days couped up in my condo like a prisoner (this might me a little melodramatic but I think I made my point
). Anyway, I’m finally stepping out into the world, albeit with slight apprehension and pockets full of kleenex.
