I am going through something of a “Foley + Corinna” phase – buying their dresses online in anticipation of the sunny season to come. I also noticed a behavioral pattern emerging in the way that I deal with new additions to my wardrobe. I can’t seem to be able to resist wearing the new piece for the earliest possible occasion. For instance, I went out for drinks at Santana Row last night and felt compelled to wear a dress that came in the mail that same day. It’s almost like I had no choice in the matter; the urge was beyond me and I just had to make it work.

the big reveal
People often ask me what my closet is like and I never really thought it was worthy of mention until now. I recently moved to a new, victorian-style apartment in which I was lucky enough to turn a spare room into a closet. I love the new set up so much that I had to share it with you guys. This development is pretty fresh so, for now, everything is organized by garment type. Dresses are afforded their own rack and skirts, blouses and jackets are grouped together. I love spending time in my “closet”..somehow it actually relaxes me. Probably because it really feels like my own space. My own fashionista playground.
silk & leather
I can’t wait to play around with texture juxtaposition this spring – mixing soft and feminine with tough, waist-attenuating leather. This post is part one of my pre-spring experiment. A sheer chiffon blouse worn over a polka dot pink bra and tucked into a leather pleated mini.
weekend getaway
I spent this long weekend at a Santa Cruz beach house with my boyfriend, Danny, and a few friends of ours. I’ve been feeling a little spoiled lately…and enjoying every second of it. Despite the apparent casualness of Santa Cruz, I still managed to squeeze in a floor-grazing maxi – with its silhouette relaxed enough for leisurely daytime outings. Have you heard the term maxi-nista before? I think it might apply to me.
season’s essentials
The wonderful people at Sugalips sent me this crochet black mini which I paired with bronze layered bangles and suede boots. For me, wearing a chunky cardigan over a simple, soft dress has become one of this winter’s most ‘go to’ combos. California is definitely changing the way I approach the season and brands like Sugarlips help this influence materialize itself.
