my valentinos
I remember walking into Holt Renfrew in Toronto and seeing the Valentino glossy peep-toe pumps for the first time. The pumps were elevated on a clear display stand and as soon as they came within my line of vision I was completely dumbfounded. I had one of those cheesy, surreal moments as everything went silent and it looked as though crepuscular rays shone on the pumps ever so brightly. All I could do was gasp. To be able to capture elegance and femininity in a shoe so exquisitely… I gained a new level of respect for Valentino that day. This Christmas, Santa was especially generous and brought me two pairs of these signature bow pumps. I must have been a really good girl last year.
the big reveal
People often ask me what my closet is like and I never really thought it was worthy of mention until now. I recently moved to a new, victorian-style apartment in which I was lucky enough to turn a spare room into a closet. I love the new set up so much that I had to share it with you guys. This development is pretty fresh so, for now, everything is organized by garment type. Dresses are afforded their own rack and skirts, blouses and jackets are grouped together. I love spending time in my “closet”..somehow it actually relaxes me. Probably because it really feels like my own space. My own fashionista playground.
ringing in a brand new year
I hope you had fun and memorable New Year celebrations. For fear of sounding braggy, I’ll refrain from describing the incredible time I had in Lake Tahoe and instead talk a little fashion
. Now that we turned the corner into 2012, I find myself thinking about my wardrobe and what new places I want to take it. The following is a summary of the biggest trends for Spring 2012. (1) Pretty pastels are the colour palette this season. Tip: Try playing with light, colour-blocked looks in sweet ice cream shades. (2) Water-world-inspired etherial gowns. The best examples of this trend were the coral adorned dresses of Alexander McQueens collection. (3) Exposed midriff. Tip: Keep the belly button under wraps, exposing just a tasteful flash of skin below the bandeau. (4) Art Deco flapper cocktail dresses. (5) 50s couture shapes.
Merry Christmas
“Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind.” I hope Santa is good to you this year and that he keeps his state of mind fashion-conscious. My darlings, have a happy holiday filled with love and fabulousness.
