I have a love-hate relationship with Zimmermann. Well hate is strong. I would say it’s more like love-frustration. Basically I adore Nicky Zimmermann’s designs, especially when it comes to swimwear, but the sizing is questionable. I understand that it’s an Australian brand so they are catering to a different market but why do the bikini tops have to be so tiny and the bottoms so giant? I love the bikini top I’m wearing in this post but I was only able to get the right fit after numerous attempts. I had to ship the size zero back to Australia in exchange for size one, which is an equivalent of a small. So the top sits perfectly now but the bottoms are useless because zeros were big to begin with and now that necessity compelled me to go a size bigger the bottoms are enormous. And the one-piece swimsuits are not any better. Everything below the chest has entirely too much fabric everywhere, at least for someone who wears xs. In short, it truly saddens me to give up on a brand with as much flare as Zimmermann. I will miss their ethereal, diaphanous dresses and nostalgia-filled, vintage-inspired swimwear. But I’m afraid it’s simply not for me.
