For the past two weeks of school I’ve been consumed by a few dominating emotions – excitement and anxiety. From what I could see, I was far from the only first-year-law-student stuck in this exhausting state. In the fear of completely digressing from the subject of the blog, I will just say that the first weeks of law school are an experience in themselves. As you can imagine, my daily looks in the course of those weeks naturally reflected a lot of how I felt; they were rushed and simpler than usual. Well I must have had some unconscious accumulation of creativity throughout as well because, today after class, mom and I just looked at each other and new that “it’s time!” We got into the car and drove to Santa Cruz for this mini-shoot.
I am still completely enamoured with California and I doubt that’s ever going to change – it’s just too gorgeous for its own good.
For this look I wrapped a large chiffon shawl around my waist and pinned it with a brooch in the back. In case you were curious, there is an old post where I wear it in a traditional way. This shawl is actually one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe because it has the most insanely luxurious texture. It’s made out of about eight thin layers of chiffon, which are sown together in such a way as to leave uneven bulk and bunches.
What I’m wearing:
- Large chiffon shawl by “Donna Karan” worn as a skirt (last seen in Mar. 13’10)
- Crystal brooch
- Necklace by “Ben-Amun” (last seen in June 1’10)
- Panther earrings with pearl clip by “Mawi” (last seen in Dec. 18’10)
- Bodysuit by “The Lake & Stars”

I am sorry to hear of the anxiety of law school…try to take it as it comes as it is a completely normal emotion for what you are going through right now. As for the outfit, quite simply put, I am very impressed with your creativity at putting this outfit together. It is luxurious and beautiful and the photoshoot is very well done. Have a fabulous weekend Lida! xo
This is such a beautiful shoot. The setting is stunning and you look gorgeous. I love the color of the shawl. It look so rich and luxurious. I would have never thought to style it as a skirt. The accessories complete the look perfectly. Good luck with your courses and have a lovely weekend. xx
Thanks Robin. That’s exactly what I try to do – just take it one day at a time. And everything is getting much more manageable now so it’ll all good
. Have an awesome weekend too Robin
!.
Thanks you Brooke. I don’t wear a lot of burgundy, but when I do, this shade is pretty much the only shade I wear in this colour so I’m glad you like it. Have a great weekend too
.
Love Lida
The colour is gorgeous on you, its such a deep shade that I usually associate with evenings but it looks lovely in the sunlight! I understand how you must feel, I’m in my last year of law school now so I’m holding my breath for that final stretch. Would love to see you looking stylish in your black and whites! [I'm always the one with the highest heels at moots...]
lol, you are funny. I wore my 3 inch heels to class the other day and I think I was the only one in heels out of our entire contracts class (which is pretty huge). That must be exciting to be in your last year though – that’s awesome. Actually, can I ask you something? Did you use commercial outlines in your first year at all? They are becoming something of a hot topic at school and I wonder if I should invest in one. I think it might be helpful for civ pro especially.
What do you think?
Such a stunning outfit, I love the more fall-esque colours in this post! You look gorgeous, keep working hard at school, I’m sure you’re doing amazingly!
