In the last few post I briefly mentioned what my school looks are like but I haven’t shown you any examples so here is my first school-look-post. A light dress, cozy cardigan, and a statement piece is my go to combination when I’m rushing out the door for the 9 o’clock torts or contracts class. Nothing like cashmere to make you feel like you are still in bed

For the past two weeks of school I’ve been consumed by a few dominating emotions – excitement and anxiety. From what I could see, I was far from the only first-year-law-student stuck in this exhausting state. In the fear of completely digressing from the subject of the blog, I will just say that the first weeks of law school are an experience in themselves. As you can imagine, my daily looks in the course of those weeks naturally reflected a lot of how I felt; they were rushed and simpler than usual. Well I must have had some unconscious accumulation of creativity throughout as well because, today after class, mom and I just looked at each other and new that “it’s time!” We got into the car and drove to Santa Cruz for this mini-shoot.

This weekend my mum managed to finally drag me away from the books long enough for us to enjoy some of what California has to offer. What was supposed to have been a short trip to San Jose for sushi turned into one of the most enjoyable city explorations. I had no idea San Jose was so pretty and charming, with a definite character of its own.

If leisure is a state of mind, I’m as far away from that state as ever. But it doesn’t stop me from reminiscing on my Cuba vacation – those long hours spent on the sunny beach with a light book in my hand. My days are still sunny but the books have gotten a lot heavier and my looks more conservative. Sometimes my mind drifts from actus reus and mens rea to that Cuban state of lightness.

I went to my first California birthday party on Wednesday and I wore this light silk dress for the night. Its tailoring is kind of unique in that its main layer is a bodysuit and the silk skirt is sown overtop. It’s actually less complicated than it sounds and it makes the dress incredibly comfortable. I wonder why designers don’t adopt this technique more often.
