I have a pretty busy day planned out for today. I will be running around all over Toronto in order to get some things started and finished. I know that for days like these I need to feel comfortable and ready to move so I chose to wear a loose, A-line, silk dress. Whenever I come across a dress or top of this particular shape, especially if they have a simple neck line and few stylistic accents, I think of my long necklaces. In terms of proportion, because there is no apparent visual break in the dress from the collar to the very bottom, you need to be conscious of this and chose an accessory that will play on this feature. For the sake of comparison, imagine accessorizing this dress with a brooch for example; it won’t only look out of place but will also make the dress appear even loser and bulkier. I’m considering making a whole video-blog about long necklaces. I find them to be so handy and fun that I think they might deserve an episode of their own.
What I’m wearing:
- Silk dress by “French Connection”
- Necklace by “MARNI”
- Tights by “Donna Karan”
- Shoes by “Pierre Hardy” (as seen in Nov. 25)
