Dear Readers,
It’s Tuesday, November 24. It might seem like I’m only stating the obvious and of course I am, but sometimes I have these minor epiphanies when my mind forces me to acknowledge the exact date as a way of contextualizing my presence in a place in time. Other than these periodic “check-ins” I hardly think about the significance of the passage of a given temporal mark, like a week or a month (as is the case with most people I would assume). This blog is the closest I’ve come to keeping a journal, and what I’ve notices – in the two weeks I’ve been at it – is that it’s forcing me to pay attention to time passing; in effect slowing it down in a way. This has felt like a long 2 weeks and I’m glad. As cliche as it may sound, life really is short (I wrote and erased 2 sentences describing why I believe this to be true but I don’t think any of us are in need of convincing). Anyways this relates to fashion in a sense that being creative and self-expressive everyday by making deliberate aesthetic choices is also a form of enriching whatever time we have.
This look-of-the-day is of what I was wearing yesterday (I’m falling behind one day now with the posts). It was my first time wearing this combination and I think it worked out nicely. When I purchased this top, on a huge sale at Holt Renfrew, I knew that even though it looked strange on the hanger it had potential. Its shaped like a straight, long top, with slits on the sides, and is neither a dress nor a blouse. Its made of the softest silk and is sheer (which complicates the matter even further
).
What I did to make it work was wear:
- Silk dark-purple camisole underneath by “Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent”
- The silk top itself is by “SPORTMAX”
- Leather belt by “Forty-Nine Square Miles (SQ MI)”
- Brown tights by “Holt Renfrew”
- Leather riding-boots (as seen in Nov. 16)
- Gloves by “Alberta Ferretti”
- Knitted vest by “Marciano”
- Bag by “Gen Rigo”
- Long crystal earrings
